Summary: On April 12, 2013, greeNEWit presented the OUR Schools Program to Hollifield Station Elementary School. Students learned about the environment and sustainability in their homes through an energizing assembly and STEM-related activities in the classroom. greeNEWit inspected and installed 266 CFL light bulbs, 38 faucet aerators and 25 showerheads in 35 single family homes. This will prevent 20,808 pounds of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere. The CO2 saved collectively by the school is the equivalent of nearly 49 trees being planted. As a result of these energy saving measures, Hollifield Station Elementary families will save on average nearly $114.44 per year in electricity, gas and water.
