Built to bring the OUR Schools Program home in the form of actionable energy efficiency, we have designed an Energy Savings Incentive.

All that is needed to generate the funds for your school is for community members to participate in a Quick Home Energy Check-up (QHEC), Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Energy Audit or the installation of no money down solar panels. As part of the Empower Maryland Energy Efficiency Act, the best part is that the QHEC is already funded through your regular utility bill. The QHEC upgrades include installation of energy-efficient CFL light bulbs, aerators, efficient-flow showerheads, smart strips and more. These energy and water saving upgrades significantly reduce home energy consumption while improving indoor comfort.

This energy savings incentive allows you to improve the energy efficiency of your home, as well as your school and community too! Students sign up their friends, family and neighbors to participate in these energy-saving opportunities. greeNEWit will give $20 for each completed QHEC, $40 for each completed energy audit and $50 for each successful installation of solar panels BACK to the school for investments in overall energy improvements. So just by spreading the word about greeNEWit, your school and several homes in your community will use less energy and save more valuable resources than ever before!

Through This Energy Savings Incentive:

1. The school gets a monetary donation to be used toward Green School certification, STEM, school building upgrades and other energy efficient causes.

2. greeNEWit will provide a case study of how much energy and money the school is saving.

3. Classrooms are rewarded for their hard work. For any class that gets more than 10 completed energy service jobs, students will each receive a prize. The teacher of the class with the most completed jobs will also win a $50 gift card.
